The government and well-to-do individuals in Nigeria have been called upon to assist victims of Itobe rainstorm disaster.
The Ejeh Ofu, Akwu Obaje, made the call on Tuesday while reacting to the rainstorm disaster that occurred at Itobe, Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi state.
He said the damage caused by the rainstorm in the district is disheartening, saying that it affected about six other villages.
“The scene is chaotic, with roofs torn off buildings, trees uprooted, and power lines snapped. Many residents have been left homeless,” Akwu explained.
The Ejeh urged well-meaning Nigerians and the government to help in restoring smiles to the faces of those affected and bereaved.
The traditional ruler sympathized with the victims over the rainstorm incident.
“Our thoughts are with the people of Itobe district during this difficult time.”
Akwu explained that more than five hundred houses, schools and health centers, Churches and Mosques with several people were injured and properties worth millions of naira were destroyed in Itobe, Adumu, Oladebu Ajegwu Itagidi, all in the Itobe district.
