On Monday, Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas presented the 2025 budget estimate of ₦N429,898, 968,402. 31 to the State House of Assembly for consideration.
The budget has an estimated recurrent expenditure of 39.9% while capital expenditure is expected to gulp 61% of the total budget sum.
The governor said the budget-themed “budget of transformation” reflects the blueprint of his administration which aims at transforming the state in terms of infrastructure and ensuring an atmosphere where the people can explore the available growth opportunities.
He emphasized that the focus of his administration in 2025 would be enhancing the quality of life of the people.
The governor said priority would be given to the development of Education, Infrastructure, Entrepreneurship, Agriculture, Security, Ecotourism, and Strengthening good Governance.
Kefas who observed that the budget was ambitious but achievable, also called on the assembly to support and encourage the executive in order to realize the objectives of the 2025 fiscal policy.
The governor maintained that the 2024 budget which was N313.39 billion has recorded 46.7 per cent implementation so far, assuring that machinery has been put in place to ensure a better budget performance for the year in view.
Earlier, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly Rt. Honorable Kizito Bonzana noted that the state has recorded tremendous improvements in areas of security, education, human capital development, workers’ welfare, and infrastructural rehabilitation.
Bonzana, who rated the 2024 budget performance as fair said the house will work to ensure quick passage of the budget without compromising on thoroughness.
