Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris has pledged to reintroduce soft loans for house, cars, and motorcycles for primary and secondary school teachers across the state.
He made this pledge while inaugurating 12,779 set of furniture for primary and secondary schools across the state.
The set of furniture is designed for both teachers and students.
Speaking at the official inauguration ceremony in Birnin Kebbi, Governor Idris said: “Government of Kebbi will continue to look into the plights of our teachers.
“In-Sha-Allah within this year, 2026, we will come-up with a package that teachers of primary and post primary schools will benefit from.
“We shall soon introduce a soft loan package for teachers, covering car loan, motorcycle loan and house loan among others.
“This is aimed at giving our teachers a strong sense of belonging.”
The Governor assured that the era of treating classroom teacher as a second class citizens is over in Kebbi State.
Speaking on the provision of the furniture, Governor Idris described the gesture as part of his government’s obligation to ensure that both students and teachers have adequate furniture in their classrooms.
He pledged the the unwavering commitment of his administration to continue to provide conducive atmosphere for both teaching and learning.
Apart from construction and renovation of various primary and post primary schools across Kebbi State, the Governor noted that the furniture distribution forms part of urgent measures to ensure that classrooms and offices are properly equipped.
“I want to assure the good people of Kebbi State that this is just the begining, we will continue to provide this kind of furniture for both teachers and students,” he stated.
The Governor directed that the furniture be shared equally 50-50 between the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and the Universal Basic Education Board to ensure equitable distribution.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Associate Professor Halima Bande expressed happiness over what she described as a Governor’s holistic commitment to education sector.
“We are happy with the projects you have been executing not only for education but across all sectors of the state.”
The Commissioner also commended Direct Contact Company for delivering quality works in full compliance with the contract specifications and for the timely execution of the project.
