The bridge between Kuchi and Rara towns on the highway linking Kebbi, Sokoto, and Niger states has collapsed.
It collapsed on Sunday night which might be connected with the recent heavy downpour which devastated Kebbi State and other neighbouring states like Sokoto, Zamfara and Niger.
Already, Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has inspected the collapsed bridge and observed that the collapse of the bridge would affect a lot of traders and farmers in the country.
He called on the Federal Ministry of Works to urgently assist and rescue the affected people as the road is the only road that links Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi and Niger to the Southern part of the country.
The governor noted that the repair of the collapsed bridge was critical in view of the fact that many businesses in the two regions would definitely be affected.
He lamented that motorists plying the route had no option than to follow a very long distance route through Dakingari in Suru local government area of Kebbi State to reach Koko- Yauri-Kontagora and Niger State.
He called on the Federal Ministry of Works to expedite action in repairing the collapsed bridge to save many businesses from collapse.
