Kebbi State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Romanian authorities to advance mining development within the state.

Speaking at the official signing ceremony held in Romania, Governor Nasir Idris described the agreement as a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to modernising and strengthening its mining sector.

“We believe that engaging foreign partners in the mining sector will not only enhance the state’s revenue but also create much-needed employment opportunities for our growing youth population,” the Governor said.

He reaffirmed the state government’s determination to prioritise mining, noting its critical role in driving economic growth and development both in Kebbi and across Nigeria.

“I encourage our people to take full advantage of this opportunity to improve their livelihoods,” Governor Idris added.

He also expressed confidence that Romanian authorities would fully adhere to the terms of the agreement for the mutual benefit of both parties.

Present at the signing ceremony were the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida; Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Barrister Junaidu Bello Marshall; Hon. Bello Ka’oje, representing Suru/Bagudo Federal Constituency; and Alhaji Ibrahim Bagudu, a prominent businessman and political figure in Kebbi State.
