The Kebbi State government has said it rescued nineteen children from the Traffickers en route Cross River State from Birnin Kebbi in Kebbi State.

Speaking at a world press conference held at Government House in Birnin Kebbi on Monday, Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu disclosed that the victims, who were ages 6, 8, and 10, were successfully rescued with the aid of a combined team of NAPTP officials, security personnel, and other volunteers.

Idris said, ” Information we received from the victims indicated that they were forced into sexual abuse and labour by their snatchers, which he described as unfortunate and the first of its kind to happen in Kebbi State.”

He added that his administration would do everything possible to take necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the state.

He also commended the efforts of the officials of NAPTP and other combined teams who rescued the innocent children back home from the hands of criminals.

He assured the government would ensure the culprits were arrested and prosecuted according to the high-profile law.

Governor Idris, however, called on parents and guardians to always keep vigilant about their children’s movements to avoid being snatched away by unknown daredevils in society.

He lamented that while his administration spent a considerable amount on education to ensure every child was in school, some parents and guardians were reluctant to admit their children to schools.
