Kebbi State Government has approved and released the sum of N714.91 million for the payment of registration, tuition fee, upkeep, internships, and visa extension for Kebbi indigenous Students abroad.
The State Commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Abubakar Tunga, made this known Thursday morning while briefing journalists in his office.
Tunga, while breaking down the expenses, stated that N177.349 is for registration and upkeep of 28 students in Subharti and GD Goenka Universities in India, while N117.686 is for 25 students’ upkeep who are studying in seven universities in Egypt.
Another N70.216 million as financial assistance to those studying Pharmacy, Medical and Allied Sciences in Jaipur National and GD Goenka Universities in India.
According to the commissioner, the governor has also approved and released the sum of N349.730 to 35 indigents who will be leaving Nigeria anytime from now to Ethiopia to study Medicine and Pharmacy.
He expressed appreciation to the governor for giving his attention to the education of the children of the poor masses across the state.
