The Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB) on Wednesday received a delegation from the Kano State-Led Accountability Mechanism (KanSLAM), who paid a courtesy and congratulatory visit to the newly appointed Director General, Professor Salisu Ibrahim Ahmad.
Professor Ahmad was recently redeployed from the Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA) to head the KSPHCMB.
During the visit, the KanSLAM delegation, led by the group’s Secretary on behalf of the Co-Chair, formally presented Professor Ahmad with a letter appointing him as Chairman of the organization’s Board of Trustees.
The appointment, according to KanSLAM, is in recognition of his distinguished leadership in the health sector and his contributions to service delivery and institutional reform.
In his remarks, Professor Ahmad expressed deep appreciation for both the visit and the honour of the appointment.
He described it as a vote of confidence and a renewed call to service.
“I am sincerely grateful for this recognition and the trust KanSLAM has placed in me. I accept the appointment with humility and a strong sense of responsibility.
Together, I believe we can drive reforms that promote transparency, fairness, and quality in primary health care delivery across Kano State,” he stated.
The Director General also urged KanSLAM to intensify its focus on critical areas such as maternal and child health, routine immunization, and financial accountability in the health sector.
He emphasized that improvements in these areas are vital to achieving the Board’s mandate and enhancing health outcomes in the state.
The meeting ended on a high note, with both parties reaffirming their shared commitment to accessible, equitable, and accountable health care for all residents of Kano State.
