The Kano State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children, and Persons with Special Needs, Amina Abdullahi Sani (popularly known as Amina HOD), has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), joining what has been described as the league of progressive commissioners under the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Amina HOD, a prominent figure within the Kwankwasiyya grassroots movement and widely regarded for her strong principles and ideological convictions, said her decision was guided by the need to align with the “Kano First” ideology.

According to her, the move is aimed at accelerating development in the state and fostering peaceful coexistence among its people.

Observers say the development marks another defining moment in Kano’s evolving political landscape, coming amid what the government describes as growing public acceptance of Governor Yusuf’s reform agenda.

The administration maintains that the shift reflects a broader political reawakening, with citizens increasingly prioritising Kano’s collective progress over narrow individual interests.

Supporters of the government argue that the ongoing political realignments underscore a practical and people-driven movement, positioning Kano for renewed political, economic and social advancement.

They credit Governor Yusuf’s leadership style and development-focused agenda for driving the changes.

The state government has also dismissed claims of instability, stressing that commissioners overseeing key and strategic ministries have reaffirmed their loyalty to the governor.

Officials insist that governance remains effective, with policies being formulated and implemented, projects ongoing, and the bureaucracy functioning optimally.

According to government sources, more than 85 per cent of the cabinet remains intact and operational, ensuring continuity in decision-making and policy execution.

The administration further warned critics against what it termed sensational narratives, insisting that political distractions would not derail its mandate.

The Kano State Government reiterated its commitment to the rule of law and effective governance, pledging to continue serving the people diligently under Governor Yusuf’s stewardship as the state pursues what it describes as a transformative and progressive future.
