Kano Welcomes Home 59 Repatriated Children

Editor

The Kano State Ministry of Women Affairs, Children, and Disabled has reaffirmed its commitment to providing support and protection to vulnerable populations in the state.

This reassurance was made by the Honorable Commissioner of the Ministry, Amina Abdullahi HOD, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Muttaka Iliyasu Yakasai, during a handover ceremony for 59 underage repatriated indigenes of Kano State.

The children, who hailed from Sumaila Local Government, arrived from Abuja on Saturday and were received by the Kano State Government through the Ministry of Women Affairs.

The Federal Government handed them over to the Women Affairs Ministry, and they were subsequently handed over to the Chairman of Sumaila Local Government, Faruk Abdu Sumaila.

This gesture demonstrates the Ministry’s dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable children in the state.

Also, Chairman Faruk Abdu Sumaila expressed his joy and relief at the safe return of 59 underage repatriated indigenes of his Local Government who had been sent to Abuja in search of knowledge.

He welcomed the children back home and assured them of his administration’s support, particularly for the less privileged.

Abdu emphasized the importance of acquiring Islamic knowledge under the care and guidance of parents, rather than sending children away at a young age.

He made it clear that his administration would no longer tolerate such practices, prioritizing instead the well-being and education of children within their families and communities.

The children were warmly received by their parents and well-wishers in Sumaila Local Government, and Chairman Abdu donated cash to help them start anew.

The Dan Ruwatan Kano, and Ibrahim Ado Bayero, the district head of the local government, also offered words of wisdom, encouraging the children to grow into good leaders of tomorrow.
