The Kano state government has announced plans for the construction of trailer parks at all the five bye- pass roads in the state.
The state commissioner for Transportation, Ibrahim Namadi, disclosed this while leading a team for an inspection visit to various major motor parks in Kano metropolitan
The Commissioner revealed that the present administration under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has already taken steps that will revitilize the transport system in the center of Commerce of the Northern part of the country.
Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi maintained that construction of the Trailer Parks is part of Kano state government strategies to address road traffic congestion and ease movements, especially in major roads.
The commissioner disclosed that the state government has also evolved various strategies that reform all motor parks, adding that the government has concluded arrangements for the provision of modern facilities to achieve the set goals.
He maintained that the visit is part of the state government commitment to access problems that are bedivelling the transport sector in view of its critical role to socioeconomic development of any society.
Making further clarifications, the Managing Director, Kano State Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA),Engineer Faisal Mahmood Kabir, said government has approved the construction of proposed Trailer parks at western bypass, Eastern bypass,Zaria road, Katsina road, Maiduguri road, Hadejia road, and new bus terminal at jogana.
Engineer Faisal Mahmoud Kabir further described the move as one of the Kano state government plans to make Kano a mega city of the world and maintain its status as a hub that connects many West African countries.
He, however, added that the state Road Traffic Agency Wil notl relent its efforts in supporting any move that will revitilize transport policy in Kano State.
