Kano State Government has assured international investors of both personal safety and the security of their investments in the state, particularly in the solid minerals sector.

Safiyanu Hamza, Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, gave the assurance during a high-level meeting held on Saturday in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, with the leadership of Medscope, a Saudi-based company headquartered in Riyadh.

The meeting focused on establishing business collaboration in Kano’s solid minerals sector.

Accompanied by the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Sheikh Tijjani Auwal, Hamza reiterated the state’s commitment to supporting and facilitating investment, stressing that Kano remains a hub for mineral resource marketing.

He also pledged the ministry’s readiness to offer maximum cooperation to ensure the partnership’s success.

Hamza emphasized the importance of capacity building, calling for collaboration in the training and retraining of ministry personnel and key stakeholders, especially artisanal miners.

He further disclosed that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf would be glad to meet with Medscope’s leadership in Kano to advance discussions on the proposed investment.

Sheikh Saoud Alzafere, Chairman of Medscope, said the company is keen on exploring solid mineral investment opportunities in Kano and across Nigeria, with plans also to support healthcare and Islamic development in the state.

Dr. Alfatih Mohammed Ali, General Manager of Medscope, along with Engineer Ali Muhammed, Country Sales Manager, expressed gratitude for the engagement.

They announced plans to deploy a team of mining engineers and geologists to Kano for a feasibility study, particularly in the Shanono Local Government Area, to assess the availability and quality of solid mineral deposits.

“As a follow-up, and within a few months, Medscope’s leadership will visit Kano to finalize the business collaboration and agree on an implementation strategy,” Dr. Alfatih Mohammed Ali confirmed.

The meeting concluded with the presentation of a special souvenir for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, which was received on his behalf by Commissioner Hamza.

Also present were Commissioner Tijjani Auwal and Adamu Ibrahim Dabo, Director of Public Enlightenment in the Ministry of Solid Minerals and Natural Resources.
