The Kano State Council of Ulama, on Saturday, organised a special rain-seeking prayer (Salatul Istisqa) at the Umar Bin Khattab Mosque.

Residents trooped out en masse to seek divine intervention amid delayed rainy season.

The prayer was also attended by prominent clerics, government officials, and respected community leaders.

Speaking after the prayer, chairman of the Council, Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, called on residents to embrace acts of charity, alms-giving, and good deeds as spiritual tools to seek Allah’s mercy and relief.

“Charity and good deeds attract Allah’s mercy and can bring prosperity to the land,” Sheikh Khalil said. He urged the faithful to go beyond prayer by engaging in righteous conduct, fulfilling religious obligations, and supporting those in need.

He also stressed the importance of repentance and reconciliation, urging individuals to mend their relationships with Allah and one another. “When we wrong others, we must seek forgiveness. Healing begins with sincere repentance, kindness, and unity,” he added.

The special prayer, organised by the Council of Ulama, highlighted growing public concern over prolonged dry spells threatening farming activities across the state.
