As part of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s drive to transform Kano into a modern and livable city, the Ministry for Public Procurement Project Monitoring and Evaluation (MPPPM&E) has rated 13 major urban renewal projects in the state capital as satisfactory.

During a routine inspection tour, the Commissioner, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, expressed satisfaction with the progress made on projects under the Governor’s Urban Renewal Development Agenda.

The tour covered key sites, including the Sabo Bakin Zuwo Road in Tarauni, the Deputy Governor’s Office, Government House Convention Center (Open Theater), Government House Jumma’at Mosque, and the Deputy Governor’s official residence.

It also extended to asphalt overlay works at Audu Bako Way, Airport Road, and Dan Agundi to Sabon Titi Road.

At Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Sumaila praised contractor Hajiya Halima Uba Jalli for the conversion of the D-Ward into a modern Sickle Cell Center, which will provide specialized healthcare services upon completion.

He also inspected drainage and waterway issues in Tudun Wizurchi, assuring residents that relevant agencies will be engaged for urgent intervention.

Other stops included the Kano State Printing Press, Printing Technology Institute, and Kano Educational Resources Department (KERD).

The Commissioner revealed that the projects, collectively valued at over ₦22 billion, were assessed by engineers, with at least 95% rated satisfactory.

He, however, urged contractors to step up efforts and adhere strictly to the Bill of Quantities to ensure timely delivery and quality execution.
