Kano Procurement Commissioner Inspects 14 Projects Worth N11.3bn in Bagwai, Shanono, Gwarzo

The Kano State Commissioner for Public Procurement and Project Monitoring, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, has embarked on a working visit to Bagwai, Shanono and Gwarzo Local Government Areas to assess the progress and quality of ongoing government projects in the areas.

The visit forms part of the ministry’s routine oversight responsibilities aimed at strengthening transparency, efficiency and accountability in the execution of public projects across the state’s 44 local government areas.

Accompanied by technical experts from the Civil, Building and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) departments, the Commissioner inspected 14 key projects with a combined value of N11.3 billion.

The exercise was designed to evaluate project progress, identify challenges and ensure strict compliance with approved standards, specifications and timelines.

In Bagwai LGA, the Commissioner inspected six major projects expected to deliver significant socio-economic benefits to residents.

These include the Kwankwasiyya Gida-Gida block of classrooms (Phase II) in Badau town, the Neighborhood Security Watch Division, renovation of Government Secondary School (GSS) Danhajja, Tsattawa Nomadic Primary School, Abbas Primary Health Centre (PHC), as well as the construction of a 5-kilometre dual carriageway road.

In Shanono LGA, the monitoring team reviewed ongoing infrastructure projects aimed at improving security, healthcare, education and road connectivity.

Projects inspected include the Neighborhood Security Watch Division, renovation and upgrade of Shanono General Hospital, the Kwankwasiyya Gida-Gida block (Phase II), and a 5-kilometre road construction project.

At Gwarzo LGA, the Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the level of work recorded on key projects, particularly the construction of a Government Technical College, which is expected to enhance vocational training and skill acquisition for youths in the area.

Other projects inspected include the Neighborhood Security Watch Division and asphalt overlay works on the Gwarzo 5-kilometre road.

Addressing stakeholders at the end of the tour, Comrade Sumaila said the inspections were part of efforts to ensure the fulfillment of the development promises of Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf.

He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure that will positively impact the lives of Kano residents.

He also called on beneficiary communities to sustain their support and cooperation with the present administration, noting that collective responsibility and community ownership are essential for achieving sustainable development and long-term progress in the state.
