The Kano State Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Dr. Ghaddafi Sani Shehu, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to promoting clean and sustainable energy solutions through collaboration with the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Initiative.

Dr. Ghaddafi made this known during a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Presidential CNG Initiative, Barrister Ismail Ahmad, in Abuja.

He said the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration and exploring opportunities for CNG penetration in Kano State.

The Commissioner noted that the state is prioritizing the adoption of CNG as a cleaner and more efficient energy source, in line with its renewable energy and environmental sustainability goals.

He assured that the Kano State Government would work closely with the Pi-CNG team to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal and promote the use of CNG for transportation and other sectors across the state.

Dr. Ghaddafi also sought the Chairman’s support for the state’s ongoing power and renewable energy initiatives, emphasizing that a strong partnership would yield mutual benefits and accelerate energy transition efforts.

In his response, Barrister Ismail Ahmad commended the Kano State Government for its proactive stance on CNG development and pledged his office’s support in driving CNG adoption and renewable energy expansion.

The Commissioner was accompanied by the Managing Director of Kano Hydro Energy Development Company (KHEDCO), Engr. Ado Ibrahim Doguwa, Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Board (REB), Engr. Sani Bala Dambatta, and the Ministry’s Director of Planning.
