Kano State Government has expressed its commitment to supporting online media organizations in the state to ensure effective information dissemination.
The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, stated this during the formal inauguration of the new Executive Members of the Kano Online Media Chapel, held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Secretariat, Farm Centre, Kano.
He noted that this is the first Online Media Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists to be inaugurated in Kano State, aimed at promoting unity and professionalism, as part of the reforms initiated by the State Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs.
Comrade Waiya explained that the integrity of Kano State had been at stake for a long time, necessitating the repositioning of the information dissemination process in the state.
He emphasized the need for unity among journalists in the state, stressing that unity is one of the greatest strengths required to achieve the desired success.
The Commissioner said he is aware of their operational challenges and promised to encourage and support them to create a conducive environment for the discharge of their duties. He urged the online media organizations to support the government in disseminating information about its activities.
In his welcome remarks, the Chairman of the Inauguration Committee, Ahmed Aminu, emphasized the need to bring online media organizations under one umbrella to ensure an effective and reliable flow of information dissemination in the state, in line with the policy of the present administration.
The veteran journalist described online media as integral to information and communication technology. He lauded the Kano State Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs under the leadership of Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya for its efforts in uniting online journalists under one platform.
Aminu urged the online media organizations to convey information that is reliable, honourable, tangible, and objective.
He reminded journalists to adhere to the code of ethics by ensuring reliability and dependability, releasing information aligned with societal norms, and verifying facts before dissemination.
In his acceptance address, the newly inaugurated Chairman of the Kano Online Media Chapel, Comrade Abubakar Abdulkadir Dangambo, expressed his commitment to building a chapel that upholds professionalism, promotes unity among practitioners, and protects the interests of its members.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kano Council, Comrade Suleiman A. Dederi, administered the oath of office to the newly inaugurated executives of the Kano Online Media Chapel.

- Chairman: Abubakar Abdulkadir Dangambo, Publisher of Independent Post
- Vice Chairman: Kahdija Aliyu, Publisher of Paradigm News
- Secretary: Isiyaku Ahmed, Publisher of Stallion Times
- Assistant Secretary: Zahra’u Nasiru, Publisher of Daily Watch 24
- Financial Secretary: Zainab Abdurrahman Mai Agogo, Publisher of Kakaki24
- Treasurer: Abbas Yushau Yusuf, Publisher of Nigeria Tracker
- Auditor: Musa Ahmad Durumin Iya, Publisher of Alfijir News
