Kano Pledges To Digitalize ARTV

Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has expressed his commitment to upgrading the Abubakar Rimi Television (ARTV) station to meet the standards of leading television stations in Nigeria.

The Commissioner made this declaration during a familiarization tour of ARTV, emphasizing the need to digitalize the station fully.

He highlighted the importance of equipping the station with modern facilities and ensuring that its staff acquire the necessary digital skills for effective operations.

Waiya assured that staff welfare and capacity building would be prioritized. To this end, he directed the management of ARTV to establish a cooperative society to promote staff welfare, pledging his full support for the initiative.

He further commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s efforts in enhancing the welfare of civil servants in the state, particularly through the payment of the minimum wage and gratuities to pensioners.

In his remarks, the Deputy Managing Director of ARTV, Idris Abba, congratulated the Commissioner on his appointment and briefed him on some pressing challenges faced by the station, including inadequate power supply and non-functional operational vehicles.

In a similar development, Comrade Waiya was warmly received by the Kano State Censorship Board during a familiarization visit.

Speaking at the board’s conference hall, the Commissioner unveiled his plans to improve staff welfare and enhance professional capacity.

He urged staff members to embrace self-development and highlighted his administration’s focus on training, retraining, and capacity building for effective service delivery.

The Commissioner also assured staff of his commitment to providing the necessary equipment to align with global advancements.

He acknowledged the contributions of the Executive Secretary of the Censorship Board, particularly his role in maintaining low litigation rates in the Kannywood industry, and praised him as a good ambassador.

In his response, the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Censorship Board, Abba El-Mustapha, expressed gratitude for the visit and commended the Commissioner for his dedication to the development of the board since his assumption of office.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Adamu Bala Muhammad, urged the staff to ensure full adherence to civil service rules and regulations in the discharge of their duties.
