The Kano State Government has directed all recently appointed political office holders to immediately declare their assets with the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), reinforcing its commitment to transparency and accountability in governance.

The directive was announced on Friday by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim, during a Special Capacity Building Workshop for senior government officials in Kaduna.

According to him, the move aims to promote openness in financial dealings, prevent conflicts of interest, and uphold good governance practices.

“All political appointees recently appointed by the Kano State Government are directed to immediately declare their assets with the Code of Conduct Bureau,” he said, describing the requirement as both a legal duty and a mark of integrity and public trust.

He added that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf remains committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in all aspects of his administration.

The announcement came as Governor Yusuf swore in two newly confirmed commissioners — Barrister Abdulkarim Kabir Maude, SAN-designate, as Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, and Associate Professor Aliyu Isa-Aliyu as Commissioner for Livestock Development.

Barrister Salisu Muhammad Tahir was also sworn in as Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice.

The directive forms part of the government’s broader reforms to strengthen accountability systems and enhance ethical governance in Kano State.
