The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano State, has introduced a new social welfare initiative tagged “Tea Break” to promote relaxation, camaraderie, and unity among its members.
The program, which will provide tea, suya, and light refreshments regularly at the chapel’s secretariat, was formally launched during a brief ceremony attended by members and guests in Kano.
Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Mr. Murtala Adewale, said the initiative was designed to ease the stress of journalism while creating a space for members to network and unwind after long hours of reporting and meeting deadlines.
“Journalism is highly demanding. This platform offers our members an opportunity to refresh themselves, exchange ideas, and build stronger professional and social bonds,” Adewale noted.
He assured that the chapel leadership would sustain the initiative, describing it as a vehicle for fostering unity, strengthening cooperation, and enhancing members’ welfare.
“We want to remain united, and this gesture will be sustained. The leadership is committed to deepening this culture of togetherness to ensure harmonious working relationships among members,” he said.
Guests at the launch praised the initiative as a creative way of boosting solidarity and morale within the NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel, noting that such informal platforms could strengthen teamwork and improve productivity in the profession.
