Kano State Government, under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reiterated its resolve to ensure that all solid minerals vendors across the state comply with the payment of the Mining Road Transport Tax.

During a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Rogo Local Government Area, Abubakar Mustapha, the Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Hamza Safiyanu, stressed the Governor’s commitment to diversifying the state’s economy and boosting revenue through the solid minerals sector as part of broader efforts to drive socio-economic development.

Commissioner Safiyanu sought the council’s support for the implementation of the tax policy and officially introduced the ministry-appointed vendor responsible for collecting the Mining Road Transport Tax across the state.

In his response, Chairman Abubakar Mustapha pledged the council’s full support, assuring the Commissioner of cooperation in ensuring security and stability in mining communities within Rogo LGA.

While in the area, the Commissioner also intervened in a minor dispute involving the tax collection vendor and community members in Damagari village, summoning the concerned parties to the ministry for resolution.

On his way to Rogo, Commissioner Safiyanu made a brief stop at Riji village in Gwarzo Local Government Area, where he addressed artisanal miners.

He encouraged them to form a leadership structure for proper engagement with the ministry and invited them for a follow-up meeting.

The Commissioner further advised young people in the area to return to school to secure their future through education.

The Commissioner was accompanied by senior officials from the ministry during Thursday’s field visits.
