Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of esteemed business magnate and philanthropist Aminu Dantata, who died at the age of 94 in Abu Dhabi.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mustapha Muhammad, Governor Yusuf described Dantata as a towering figure whose impact on Kano State and Nigeria’s economic development was both foundational and far-reaching.
“Aminu Dantata’s visionary leadership and entrepreneurial prowess established a business empire that generated countless jobs and significantly boosted the nation’s economic growth.
“His legacy in commerce continues to inspire generations of entrepreneurs,” the statement read.
The Governor also highlighted Dantata’s profound philanthropic work, noting that he invested heavily in education, healthcare, poverty alleviation, and community development.
“He believed in giving back to society and empowering people. His generosity touched countless lives,” Yusuf added.
Paying tribute to the late elder statesman, Governor Yusuf said, “Kano State has lost one of its finest sons. His wisdom, counsel, and unwavering commitment to the state’s progress will be sorely missed.
“Aminu Dantata was not only a mentor and father figure to many but also a beacon of integrity and compassion.”
On behalf of the government and people of Kano State, Governor Yusuf extended heartfelt condolences to the Dantata family and prayed for Allah’s mercy and eternal rest for the deceased in Jannatul Firdaus, as well as strength for his loved ones to bear the loss.
