Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commended Nigerian Public Relations practitioners for their dedication to professional ethics, describing them as critical stakeholders in the nation’s communication landscape.
The commendation was made during the ongoing 2nd Nigerian Institute of Public Relations Week (NIPRW), taking place at Ceedapeg Hotel in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by Usman Gwadabe, Director of Public Enlightenment at the Kano State Government House, the Governor was represented at the event by his spokesperson and Director General of Media and Publicity, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Governor Yusuf also announced a donation of N5 million to the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to support the Institute’s activities nationwide.
According to his representative, the gesture is part of a broader initiative by the Kano State Government to promote the growth and professional development of the public relations industry in Nigeria.
He emphasized that Kano State delegates were fully sponsored to participate in this year’s event, reaffirming the administration’s ongoing support for the sector.
Though absent due to prior engagements, Governor Yusuf extended his goodwill to all participants, expressing confidence in the conference’s success and the opportunities it offers for networking and collaboration.
“This donation demonstrates the Governor’s unwavering commitment to fostering professional excellence and cross-sector cooperation, particularly in the realm of public communication,” the statement added.
The NIPR Week is a flagship event that gathers leading voices in public relations across Nigeria, offering a platform for knowledge exchange, capacity building, and ethical dialogue in the profession.
