Kano State Government, through the Ministry of Health, has successfully concluded the 2025 Free Oral Health Outreach Campaign, which provided free oral healthcare services to more than 6,000 residents across all 44 Local Government Areas of the state.

The campaign, which began on August 16, officially came to a close on Frday at Filin Mushe Primary Healthcare Centre in Gwale Local Government Area.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Pharmacist Aminu Bashir, commended healthcare workers and stakeholders for their dedication to the program’s success.

He described the initiative as part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen access to quality healthcare, particularly in the areas of prevention and primary health services.

Pharmacist Bashir stressed the importance of oral health, noting that it is often neglected despite its crucial role in overall well-being.

He explained that untreated dental conditions can lead to serious health complications, assuring that the government remains committed to investing in similar interventions to protect citizens’ health.

According to him, the outreach went beyond dental check-ups and treatments by also providing oral health education, awareness campaigns, and free hygiene kits.

These efforts, he said, are designed to encourage preventive practices and reduce the prevalence of oral diseases across the state.

One of the beneficiaries, Malam Idris Garba Amin, expressed gratitude to the Kano State Government, describing the program as timely and impactful, especially for low-income earners who cannot afford oral healthcare services.

He prayed for the success of the present administration and urged the government to sustain such initiatives.

Reaffirming its commitment, the Ministry of Health pledged to continue expanding community-based healthcare programs in line with the vision of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who has prioritized health as a cornerstone of his administration.

Officials noted that more outreach campaigns targeting other critical health areas would follow, aimed at reducing disease burden and improving the quality of life of Kano residents.

The 2025 Free Oral Health Outreach Campaign underscores the state government’s determination to work with healthcare professionals, partners, and communities to ensure no citizen is left behind in accessing essential health services.
