Kano State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, has officially commissioned the newly constructed Gidan Mari Community Health Post, a fully equipped facility built and donated by the Director General, Protocol Directorate, Abdullahi Ibrahim Rogo.

The commissioning ceremony, held in Rogo Local Government Area, drew the participation of key stakeholders, government officials, and community members.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Pharmacist Aminu Bashir, Dr. Yusuf described the project as a remarkable contribution to strengthening healthcare delivery services, not only for the Gidan Mari community but for Kano State as a whole.

He noted that the gesture reflects a shared commitment to ensuring access to quality healthcare, particularly in underserved rural areas.

The Commissioner commended Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim Rogo for his dedication, generosity, and alignment with the state government’s ongoing efforts to upgrade primary healthcare infrastructure across all 44 local government areas.

He added that the facility has been formally handed over to the Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB) for effective management and utilization.

Dr. Yusuf emphasized that the initiative aligns with the vision of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, to bring healthcare closer to the people and reduce the burden of preventable diseases at the grassroots level.

He also underscored the importance of community participation and private sector support in sustaining progress within the health sector.

Speaking at the event, the Director General, KSPHCMB, Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, lauded the donor for his foresight and humanitarian spirit.

He noted that the establishment of such facilities not only enhances access to healthcare services but also creates employment opportunities for local residents, thereby contributing to socioeconomic development.

In his remarks, a representative of the project committee, Malam Isyaku Bature, revealed that  Abdullahi Ibrahim Rogo has so far built two healthcare facilities within Rogo Local Government Area, a testament to his enduring commitment to community development and public welfare.

Residents of Gidan Mari expressed heartfelt appreciation to the donor and the state government, describing the facility as a timely intervention that will significantly ease their long-standing challenges in accessing medical services.

The event concluded with the formal commissioning of the edifice, followed by an inspection tour of the new facility by dignitaries, traditional rulers, and community leaders.
