The Kano State Commissioner of the Ministry for Public Procurement, Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, has inspected the ongoing construction of the newly established Neighborhood Security Watch Divisions in Bagwai, Shanono, and Gwarzo Local Government Areas. The visit focused on assessing contractors’ compliance with project specifications, timelines, and quality standards.
According to the Commissioner, work is progressing steadily across all project sites, with the Neighborhood Security Watch Divisions expected to be completed within the coming weeks.
The monitoring exercise forms part of the state government’s renewed commitment to ensuring that all Security Watch Division projects meet established expectations and align with the broader agenda of His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, aimed at curbing crime, enhancing surveillance, and ensuring a safer environment for residents.
Addressing rising security concerns, the Commissioner emphasized that bringing security structures closer to communities will strengthen early detection of threats, improve coordination with relevant stakeholders, and enable faster response during emergencies.
During the tour, the Commissioner also evaluated the ongoing 5km dual carriage road projects in Bagwai and Shanono Local Government Areas.
Other projects inspected include the general renovation and Upgrade of Shanono Comprehensive Healthcare Center to Secondary Health Facility, the renovation of GTC Gwarzo, and the second phase of the Kwankwasiyya Gida-Gida Block of Classrooms in Shanono, Bagwai, and Gwarzo Local Government Areas.
