The Kano State House of Assembly Committee on Housing has conducted a comprehensive oversight tour of major housing projects under the Kano State Housing Corporation (KSHC), underscoring its commitment to accountability, quality delivery, and the timely completion of public housing initiatives across the state.
The visit was led by the Committee Chairman and Member representing Kumbotso Constituency, Hon. Mudassir Ibrahim Zawaciki, accompanied by other lawmakers serving on the committee.
The team inspected several ongoing and completed projects, including the Zoo Road Shopping Complex, Ja’oji Shopping Complex, Tarauni Shopping Complex, Warri Road Shopping Complex in Sabon Gari, Gold Coast Road, Kabuga Shopping Complex, and the Corporation’s permanent site under construction at Kwankwasiyya City.
The Managing Director of KSHC, Abdullahi Rabiu, Deputy MD, Engr Isyaku Umar Kwa, and other key Directors of the Corporation accompanied the visit.
According to Hon. Zawaciki, the oversight visit aimed to assess the level of work done, identify challenges, and strengthen collaboration between the Legislature and the Corporation for better service delivery.
During the tour, the Committee expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far, noting that the projects reflect the State Government’s strong resolve to reduce housing deficits and provide dignified, affordable accommodation for residents.
The lawmakers reaffirmed their readiness to support the Housing Corporation through legislative backing, policy direction, and timely interventions to ensure the successful completion of all ongoing projects.
The Committee stated that the oversight exercise aligns with the Assembly’s mandate to monitor government programmes and ensure public resources are effectively used for the benefit of citizens.
Earlier, the Managing Director of KSHC, Abdullahi Rabiu, presented detailed briefings on each project, outlining achievements as well as constraints related to funding, contractor compliance, and timelines.
He appreciated the Committee’s oversight efforts and assured continued commitment to transparency, quality control, and adherence to approved standards.
