Amal Umar, a well-known person in Kannywood, has been charged with trying to bribe Nigeria Police Force personnel in Kano State.
On Thursday, Umar was arraigned in front of a Kano Magistrate’s Court.

The actress allegedly offered N250,000 to ASP Salisu Bujama of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Zone 1 headquarters in Kano State, according to the initial information report.

The prosecution claimed that the bribe was meant to stop the police investigation into her lover Ramadan Inuwa’s alleged financial embezzlement.

On August 18, 2022, Yusuf Adamu filed a formal complaint with the Assistant Inspector General (AIG), Umar Mohd Sanda, via his attorney, H.I. Dederi.

The accusation detailed Inuwa’s alleged misappropriation of a substantial sum of money, N40 million, in his cell phone business. Subsequent police investigations uncovered that Inuwa had transferred N13 million to the Kannywood actress’s bank account.

The actress was called in for interrogation and subsequently granted bail, according to a statement made on Thursday by CSP Bashir Muhammad, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Police Force, Zone 1, Kano.

She was apparently denied permission to go in a car that her boyfriend had bought.

The actress acknowledged that her lover owned the money in her bank account, but she said that he had only given her N8 million.

Amal Umar requested a halt to additional police inquiries against her from the Kano State High Court after being granted bail.

The actress was barred from further police investigation by a temporary restraining order obtained by the court. Amal apparently saw this as a chance to try and bribe the police investigator.

Luckily, the actress was detained by the police after they stopped the attempted bribery. They have accumulated proof to back up the claims of bribery; therefore, on Wednesday, the Magistrate’s Court will arraign her.
The actress from Kannywood is charged with breaking Criminal Code Section 118, which forbids bribing law enforcement officials.
