Olanrewaju James, also known as Baba Ijesha, is a Nollywood actor who has begged the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn his conviction for sexual assault of a minor from a Lagos State High Court.
On July 14, 2022, Baba Ijesha was sentenced to five years in jail by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offenses Court for the sexual assault of a minor, Damilola Adekoya, also known as Princess, the foster daughter of his colleague.
Yet, Baba Ijesha went to the appellate court to contest his five-year prison sentence because he was unhappy with the court’s decision.

Through his attorney, Kayode Olabiran, Baba Ijesha informed the appeals court on Tuesday that his client was set up and that he followed a script that had been drafted by his colleague, who invited him.

“The appellant was set up,” he declared. The appellant works as an actor. He performed a script that Damilola Adekoya, his colleague (PW1), invited him to perform.

Babajide Martins, the director of public prosecution, asked the court to reject the appeal, arguing that it was misguided and had no basis.

Martins also pleaded with the court to uphold the lower court’s decision.
