England captain Harry Kane netted his 40th and 41st goals of the season as Bayern Munich defeated Flamengo 4-2 in a thrilling Club World Cup clash, booking their spot in the quarter-finals against Paris Saint-Germain.

The German champions took early control at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, breaking the deadlock just six minutes in when Flamengo midfielder Erick Pulgar inadvertently turned Joshua Kimmich’s corner into his own net.

Just three minutes later, Kane doubled the lead with a powerful low strike, slightly deflected off Leo Ortiz, following a turnover high up the pitch by Dayot Upamecano.

Flamengo, unbeaten in their previous 11 games, responded through Gerson’s thunderous shot that beat Manuel Neuer 12 minutes before halftime. However, Bayern restored their two-goal cushion when Leon Goretzka’s long-range drive wrong-footed goalkeeper Agustin Rossi.

Flamengo narrowed the deficit once again early in the second half, with Jorginho converting from the spot after Michael Olise handled Giorgian de Arrascaeta’s goal-bound effort.

But Kane sealed the win in the 72nd minute, calmly finishing from a Kimmich pass for his second of the game and third goal of the tournament.

Kane Reaches New Milestone

Kane’s brace marked the second consecutive season he has surpassed the 40-goal mark — an achievement he first reached with 44 goals in the 2023–24 campaign. The 31-year-old was among seven changes made by manager Vincent Kompany following a midweek loss to Benfica and proved pivotal in Bayern’s fast start and overall dominance.

Mixed Performances and Key Moments

While Kane’s clinical finishing stood out, it was a night to forget for Pulgar. After scoring an own goal, the Chilean earned a yellow card for a reckless challenge on Kane and was later stretchered off due to injury.

Flamengo’s usually tight defence, which had conceded only five goals in their previous 11 matches, was exposed by Bayern’s relentless attack, bringing the German side’s season goal tally to a staggering 154 across all competitions.
