Jigawa to Purchase 300 Tractors, Other Implements for Agric Mechanization

Jigawa State Executive Council has approved the sum of N26.2 billion purchase of 300 tractors, 300 Disc plows, 300 Disc harrows, 300 Disc riggers, 300 Tipping trailers, and other modern farm implements.

The State Commissioner of Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Nura Ibrahim Kazaure revealed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the state executive council meeting.

He explained other farm implements to be purchased included 150 multipurpose planters, 150 rice seeders, 40 combined harvesters, and 80 boom sprayers.

Dr. Nura noted that the award of contract for the implements is part of the state government’s commitment to the mechanization of the state agricultural sector by making modern and simple farming technology accessible to all farmers in the state.

According to him, the Governor Namadi-led administration has placed agriculture as a cornerstone for the state’s growth and economic development under its 12-point agenda, the farmers will be empowered in all aspects to enhance and boost their production.

However, Dr. Nura revealed that the council has approved N263,160,000 for the three-month training of 30 master technicians in China. Sixty centers would be established, with two centers in each of the 30 state constituencies for continued training of manpower to meet with the state mechanization and industrialization project.

“The council approved the award of contract in the sum of N2.5 billion for 63 lots for construction, renovation, procurement, and sanitation in the state basic education and also approved N1,05 billion for 26 lots of renovation of primary and junior secondary schools damaged by a windstorm.”
