Jigawa Releases ₦5b for Food Items Other Components of Palliatives

Jigawa State executive council has approved the release of over Five billion Naira for the purchase of food items and other components of a palliative program.

The Commissioner of Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Sagir Musa Ahmad, revealed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the state executive council meeting.

He said the state governor Malam Umar Namadi is worried about the economic and social hardship people are going through as a result of fuel Subsidy removal.

“However His Excellency Malam Umar Namadi promised to ensure all necessary measures are taken to assist people in the state before the situation normalizes in favour of national growth and development”.

The commissioner explained that the ₦5 billion Naira approved by the executive council will be used to purchase

120 trucks of food items including 70 Trucks of Rice (600 bags per truck, 54 Trucks of Millet & Maize (600 bags per truck) and 1,000 Cartons of Spaghetti for distribution across the 27 local government areas of the state

“These food items, valued at Three Billion Eight Hundred and Forty-Eight Thousand Naira (N3,848,000.00) only, will be distributed through the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA). The joint financial contribution of the Federal”

“Also to accelerate growth in food production and jobs creation Promoting Agricultural Development,  State Executive Council has approved  a loan of One Billion Naira (N1,000,000,000.00) only to the Jigawa Agricultural Supply Company (JASCO) for the supply of modern and affordable farm implements including procurement of 54 units of Tractors for supporting Mechanization of farming “

“Moreso, the council approved The sum of one hundred and sixty-seven million twenty-four thousand nine hundred and fifty naira (N167,024,950.00) for some less privileged undergraduate students to settle their registration fees ” the commissioner revealed.
