To improve healthcare awareness across urban and rural communities in Malam Madori, the Local Government Council has trained 50 women and adolescent girls on menstrual hygiene.
Speaking at the event on Wednesday, the Program Coordinator, Ali Haruna, said the participants, drawn from all wards of the area, were trained on how to make local sanitary pads.
According to him, this will help them cut expenses and reduce the risk of urinary tract infections.
The Head of the Water and Sanitation Department, Shehu Sani Gwadayi, stressed the importance of hygiene to human health, noting that it enhances both livelihood and immunity.
His deputy, Muhammad Abdullahi, also briefed the participants on the dangers of poor menstrual hygiene and the need for proper practices to prevent reproductive diseases.
Flagging off the training, the Council Chairman, Salisu Sani Garun Gabas, represented by Vice Chairman, Amina Dokajo, urged participants to pay close attention to the practical sessions on making local pads.
She further advised them to adopt the use of the pads to safeguard their health, particularly against urinary tract infections.
