Jigawa State Government, in partnership with the Malam Madori Local Government Council, has distributed relief materials to over 500 residents affected by recent flooding in the area.
The intervention was designed to alleviate the hardship faced by disaster victims.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, the Council Chairman, Salisu Sani Garun-Gabas, said the gesture was designed to support victims in recovering from their losses. He explained that each beneficiary received 10kg bags of rice, Semovita, Millet, Wheat, and a N5,000 transportation allowance.
Garun-Gabas urged the recipients to make judicious use of the items and prayed for Allah’s blessings to replenish their losses.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Abdulwahab Toro Kafin Hausa, commended the Council Chairman for his proactive response and strong support for the victims.
Also, the Executive Secretary of SEMA, Hon. Hannafi Yakubu Fagam, conveyed Governor Umar Namadi’s heartfelt sympathy to the victims and assured them of the administration’s continuous support. He further pledged to seek additional relief from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
Traditional rulers, including the District Heads of Malam Madori and Waje, Muhammad Saleh Kuliya, and Ilyasu Ibrahim, applauded the government’s intervention.
Earlier, the Zonal APC Chairman, Ango Abdullahi Malam Madori, praised both Governor Namadi and Chairman Garun-Gabas, describing the initiative as proof of their commitment to good governance and the welfare of citizens.
