The Kaugama Local Government Committee on Sensitisation and Awareness Campaign for Birth Registration has commenced an advocacy tour to District Heads across the area as part of efforts to educate communities on the importance of obtaining birth certificates.

The Community Mobilisation Officer, in collaboration with the Information Officer and the Ward Focal Person on the registration exercise, paid an advocacy visit to the District Head of Waje in his palace.

During the visit, the Community Mobilisation Officer, Mallam Dalha, presented pamphlets outlining the importance of birth registration and clarified the age categories of children eligible for registration.

He appealed to traditional title holders to support the exercise to ensure its success across the Local Government Area.

Also speaking, the Local Government Information Officer, Musa Muhammad Hadejia, reminded traditional leaders of their vital roles in ensuring the smooth implementation of the program.

He urged community members to reject any form of unofficial payment or “helping hand” for obtaining the birth certificate, stressing that the process is free.

Earlier, the District Head of Waje, Alhaji Ilyasu Ibrahim, welcomed the committee members and assured them of his full cooperation. He pledged to mobilise community leaders to ensure the success of the awareness campaign.

During the engagement, community leaders as well as Islamic and Christian clerics asked questions and sought clarifications on issues related to the ongoing birth registration exercise.
