To improve child health and support lactating mothers, the wife of Jigawa State Governor, Dr. Amina Umar Namadi, has distributed specialized therapeutic food items to tackle malnutrition among children in the state.

The outreach, held in celebration of Breastfeeding Week 2025, was aimed at raising awareness and boosting the confidence of nursing mothers.

The intervention targeted vulnerable communities in Kirikasamma, Birniwa, and Guri Local Government Areas.

Dr. Amina explained that the initiative aligns with the mission of her foundation, the Hamdan Kasiran Orphans and Vulnerable Groups and Women Assistance Foundation, which facilitated the distribution of nutritional packages to 90 lactating mothers across the three LGAs.

“The goal is to promote healthy child development and support mothers during the critical stages of early childhood,” she said.

Speaking at the event, the Primary Healthcare Coordinator, Kabiru Musa, reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to strengthening primary healthcare under the leadership of Governor Umar Namadi.

Also addressing the gathering, Mrs. Henry Marcus encouraged mothers to adopt exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, stressing its importance in boosting infant immunity and protecting against infections.

The event also featured lectures by facilitators on Islamic rulings and cultural practices supporting exclusive breastfeeding, aiming to bridge health education with community values.

Earlier, Fatsima Muhammad Maji Wakili Marma, wife of the Chairman of Kirikasamma, welcomed Dr. Amina and her team, thanking them for the impactful outreach and commitment to maternal and child health.
