Orders for Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip to vacate their shelters were reiterated by the Israeli military on Saturday, October 12.
Israeli Defense Forces spokesman Avichay Adraee instructed Gazans to flee to Muwasi, a crowded neighborhood in the south of the Strip designated as a humanitarian zone, in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
There has been fighting with Palestinian militants for the most of the previous week, mostly in and around Jabaliya in northern Gaza, as Israeli war jets and artillery have been bombarding the area.
Numerous people were reportedly slain, according to media accounts.
According to reports, the IDF also gave the order for patients and medical personnel to leave the three main hospitals in northern Gaza.
On Wednesday, the Kamal Edwan Hospital’s Director of Nursing bemoaned the devastation.
“The UN Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel released a report on Thursday, October 11, finding that Israel “perpetrated a concerted policy to destroy Gaza’s healthcare system.” Israel has rejected the findings. “Al-Nasr Children’s Hospital is the largest hospital providing services to children. It is completely destroyed and cannot be restored due to the extent of the destruction.”
