Inferno: Kebbi Donates N50m to Timber Sellers’ Association

Kebbi State Government has donated the sum of N50 million to the Timber Sellers’ Association, which lost its property following a fire incident.

Governor Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, had also donated N10 million as his donation to the victims.

Inspecting the scene of the inferno in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday, the Governor sympathized with the victims and urged them to accept the will of God Almighty in good faith.

“On behalf of the State Government, we are donating the sum of N50 million to enable you recoup part of your losses,” he said.

He assured the timber marketers that government was making necessary arrangements to assist the victims to enable them recoup and continue their normal business.

“This administration under my watch will fully respond to assist those affected restart business after complete assessment of the tragedy,” he assured.

Responding, the Chairman of the Timber Sellers’ Association, Bello Dan-Sambo, thanked Governor Idris for the visit.

He expressed immense gratitude for his magnanimity and kind gesture.

A total of nine timber merchants are the identified victims of the fire outbreak with cumulative losses of about N191.7 million in timber and other accessories.
