Former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has ruled out leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), reaffirming his loyalty to the party while expressing willingness to support any broad-based political alliance aimed at rescuing Nigeria in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking to journalists in Kano, Lamido declared his full commitment to the PDP despite its internal challenges.

“I am PDP by flesh, soul, and bone. I can’t walk out of my skin into another and be conferred with a smaller identity like ADC. I cannot,” he said.

While stressing that he remains firmly in the PDP, the former governor said he would support any credible candidate or coalition—whether from within or outside the party—if the goal is to restore unity, peace, and prosperity in Nigeria.

“For any country to be stable, its people must trust one another. We need unity, mutual respect, and love to move forward. We must come together for democracy, stability, and national progress,” Lamido added.

He also spoke about his personal sacrifices for the PDP, recounting episodes of imprisonment, harassment, blackmail, and even attempts to burn down his house. Despite all, he said, he remains steadfast in his loyalty to the party.

“PDP made me a minister and a governor. The party belongs to Nigeria and is driven by principles, not individuals,” he said.

On the issue of state creation, Lamido said addressing insecurity, poverty, hunger, and disunity should take precedence. “Once these problems are resolved, I have no issue with the creation of new states,” he concluded.
