The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered the transfer of officers featured in a viral “stop-and-search” video to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for disciplinary action.
The directive follows widespread public outrage over footage showing police officers allegedly harassing civilians during a roadside operation in Lagos.
The video captures officers stopping a vehicle, ordering its occupants to step out, and moving them away from the car to search their belongings.
Shared on Saturday by an X user identified as @ChuksEricE, the clip was reportedly recorded by a young man who claimed to have experienced the incident in Lagos State.
In the footage, a voice behind the camera questions the officers’ conduct, stating, “I have never seen a police officer carry a driver to one side to search him away from where his car is parked on the road.”
