The Kano State Hisbah Command has arrested a suspected human trafficker caught with 12 women at a motor park along Zaria Road while attempting to transport them to Lagos.

Deputy Commander General of Hisbah, Sheikh Mujahideen Aminuddeen, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect, a native of Borno State, was intercepted by operatives led by the Officer in Charge of motor parks, Muhammad Bashir.

Investigations revealed that the women, all with international passports, were being trafficked through Lagos, Benin Republic, and Ghana to Sierra Leone, before securing visas to Saudi Arabia for jobs.

Each of the victims reportedly paid N1.5 million upfront, with an agreement to settle the balance after employment was secured.

The victims include a 50-year-old woman, two aged 23, two aged 20, and several teenagers around 15 years.

They hail from different states—three from Katsina, two from Kano, and one each from Borno, Jigawa, and Zamfara.

Aminuddeen said the suspect’s identity remains undisclosed, adding that further investigations are ongoing.
