A meeting of the BRICS bloc of developing economies is scheduled to take place in Kazan later this month, and 24 leaders have confirmed their presence, according to Yuri Ushakov, the Russian president’s adviser on international affairs.
Ushakov went on to say that the summit would be attended by the leaders of nine member states, including Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil, and Xi Jinping of China.
38 states, including members and nations that “want to cooperate” with BRICS, received invitations, according to Ushakov, who made the announcement during a press conference in Moscow.
Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa formed the BRICS alliance in 2006; South Africa joined in 2010. Since then, the alliance has undergone significant growth, adding Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates. Saudi Arabia has said it’s considering joining, and Azerbaijan has formally applied.
