A coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in Jigawa State has appealed to the party to take disciplinary action against its National Financial Secretary, Bashir Usman Gumel, over allegations of public incitement, insubordination, and actions capable of creating disunity and unrest within the party.

The coalition made the call during a press briefing on Wednesday in Dutse, the state capital, to condemn the attitude and utterances of Bashir Gumel during a political gathering in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area.

The chairman of the group, Ibrahim, stated that the coalition observed with dismay how the APC National Financial Secretary shifted his loyalty to individuals rather than to the party as an institution.

The group also faulted Mr. Gumel for attending an event that was not approved by the state party leadership due to its unpopular and anti-APC nature.

“We also condemn in totality the inciting, inflammatory, and derogatory statements made by Bashir against Governor Umar Namadi and the entire state party leadership,” the group stated.

“The unguided utterances of Mr. Bashir caused unrest, leading to chaos, injuries to innocent citizens, and destruction of property, which is totally against our great party’s constitution”.

“In view of this, we draw attention to these flagrant breaches of the APC Constitution – Article 21 A (vi), (vii), and (x), which deal with: engaging in acts capable of bringing the party into disrepute, disrespect to party leadership, and the promotion of factionalism.”

The coalition called on the national leadership of the APC to immediately investigate these alleged anti-party activities, which they say have caused public unrest, disunity, and embarrassment to the party.

“We condemn in the strongest terms the irresponsible behavior of Bashir Usman Gumel, which is unbefitting of a national party officer, and we demand that the party invoke appropriate disciplinary measures against him to serve as a deterrent to others.”

Engr. Saidu, however, reaffirmed the coalition’s loyalty and confidence in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Namadi, in line with APC philosophy.
