Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has disclosed the government’s plan to secure drones and other logistics for surveillance and rapid response in order to protect inhabitants of the border areas between Kano and Katsina States.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Governor’s Spokesman, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor made the disclosure while assessing the preparedness of the Joint Task Force (JTF) in addressing the recent bandits’ attacks at their three bases in Tsanyawa and Shanono Local Government Areas on Tuesday.

The Governor appealed to the people residing in the affected areas to assist the JTF with useful information about the bandits’ movements.

He revealed that when he visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the matter, the President quickly responded positively to the request presented to him.

Governor Yusuf tasked the JTF to put in their best effort to secure the release of the innocent kidnapped residents of Tsanyawa and Shanono Local Government Areas from the hands of the bandits.

“We are aware that they have been attacking innocent communities, especially here in Tsanyawa and Shanono Local Government Areas. Many innocent lives were taken away, and many innocent people were also sent to the bush.

” I assured you that by God’s Grace, those that were kidnapped will be brought back to their families,” he stated.

Governor Yusuf told the troops that, “We are here to assess the situation as far as this insecurity is concerned and to rub minds with you as well as to motivate you to put in your best.”

“This type of insecurity in Kano State is something new; it is something alien that has just been observed in the state, and the government is doing its best to address the situation with the cooperation of security agencies,” he noted with concern.

He assured them that the present administration would do the necessary for their welfare.

During the assessment tour, Governor Yusuf condoled with families whose relatives were kidnapped and assured them of the victims’ freedom very soon.

It was reported that about five and ten persons were abducted in Tsanyawa and Shanono, respectively, including one woman who lost her life.
