Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed deep sympathy with the business community of Singer Market over the recent fire outbreak that destroyed goods worth hundreds of millions of naira.
The governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, in a statement on Tuesday, said Governor Yusuf described the incident as unfortunate and distressing, noting that the state government shares in the pain and losses suffered by the affected traders.
He assured them of the government’s solidarity and support during this difficult time.
The Governor prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the victims strength and replace their losses with better opportunities, while also preventing the recurrence of such incidents across the state.
He directed relevant authorities, particularly the Kano State Fire Service and other security agencies, to intensify fire prevention measures and public enlightenment campaigns in markets and other commercial centres.
Governor Yusuf further disclosed that the state government would explore practical ways of assisting the affected traders, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, to cushion the impact of the losses.
He also urged traders and business owners to strictly adhere to safety guidelines, especially in handling electrical installations and other equipment capable of causing fire outbreaks, in order to safeguard lives and property.
