Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has received the final report on the 2024 Hajj exercise from the State Pilgrims Welfare Board.

The report was officially presented on Wednesday during the 31st State Executive Council Meeting held at the Government House Annex, Kwankwasiyya City.

In a statement the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf pledged that the state government will carefully review the recommendations and implement necessary measures.

“The report laid before us will, by God’s grace, be studied in detail so we can effectively resolve the challenges identified by the special committee,” the governor stated.

He reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to continue supporting the board, especially as preparations for the 2025 Hajj are already underway.

The governor expressed profound appreciation to the Emir of Karaye, Muhammad Mahmoud Maharaza, praising his integrity, transparency, and commitment to ensuring the smooth running of the 2024 Hajj operations.

“You have made Kano State proud through your dedication and hard work,” he remarked.

Governor Yusuf also commended the management and staff of the board, the 44 Local Government Centre Officers, and members of the Hajj Delegation Committee for their collective efforts.

He prayed for the forgiveness of the two Kano pilgrims who passed away during the exercise and appealed to Almighty God to assist Saudi authorities in locating the missing Kano pilgrim.

Earlier, the Deputy Governor and overseer of the board, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, explained that the report was intended to guide the government in addressing lapses encountered during the exercise.

He noted that pilgrims consistently rated the last three Hajj operations conducted under the current administration as the most successful in recent years.

While presenting the report, the Emir of Karaye disclosed that it consists of two volumes: one covering the Hajj Delegation Committee’s activities and the other focusing on the board’s operations.

He also commended Governor Yusuf for being the first to establish a dedicated Hajj Delegation Committee.

In their separate remarks, the Chairman and Executive Secretary of the board, Yusuf Lawan and Lamin Dan Baffa, described the 2024 Hajj as a resounding success, enhanced by the governor’s personal presence in the Holy Land.

At the event, awards were presented to Governor Yusuf in recognition of Kano State’s outstanding achievements in transportation, feeding, accommodation, and general welfare of pilgrims.
