Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Wednesday presented a N1.368 trillion budget proposal for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly, describing it as a financial roadmap aimed at accelerating infrastructure expansion, deepening inclusive growth, and strengthening sustainable development across the state.

Presenting the appropriation bill, tagged “Budget of Infrastructure, Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development,” Governor Yusuf said the proposal was crafted to complete key ongoing projects, consolidate gains in critical sectors and introduce new initiatives to stimulate socio-economic transformation.

According to him, the N1,368,127,929,271 spending plan allocates a significant portion to capital development, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to bridging infrastructure gaps and improving public services.

He disclosed that N934.640 billion is earmarked for capital expenditure, while N433.487 billion is allotted to recurrent expenditure, maintaining a capital-to-recurrent ratio that prioritizes long-term investments over routine costs.

Governor Yusuf said the 2026 budget reflects his administration’s resolve to deliver impactful projects in education, healthcare, road construction, water supply, security, empowerment programs, and urban renewal.

He urged the lawmakers to grant the proposal accelerated consideration to ensure the timely implementation of development programs in the coming year.

In his remarks, Speaker of the House, Hon. Jibril Fagore, commended the governor for his commitment to transparency and people-oriented governance.

He assured that the Assembly would conduct a thorough yet speedy review of the budget.

The Speaker also lauded the executive for consistently carrying lawmakers along, and thanked the general public for their support and prayers, assuring that the government remains committed to delivering projects that will move Kano State to greater heights.
