Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has departed the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, leading a high-level delegation to the holy city of Madina, Saudi Arabia, to attend the funeral rites of the late elder statesman and business icon, Aminu Alhassan Dantata, who passed away early Saturday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Accompanying Governor Yusuf on the solemn journey are the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, and former Jigawa State Governor Barr. Ali Sa’ad Birnin Kudu, and other prominent government officials and dignitaries from Kano.

Dantata, renowned for his towering legacy in commerce, philanthropy, and public service, died after spending his final days in spiritual reflection in Abu Dhabi.

His passing signals the close of a remarkable chapter in Nigeria’s socio-economic and humanitarian landscape.

Speaking at the airport before departure, Governor Yusuf described Dantata as “a father figure to many, whose generosity and compassion transcended borders.”

He emphasized that the presence of the Kano delegation in Madina reflects the profound respect and gratitude held by the people and government of the state for the late statesman’s enduring legacy.

The funeral in Madina is expected to draw mourners from across Nigeria and beyond, including state and federal officials, religious leaders, family members, and business associates, all united in prayer for the repose of his soul.

Dantata will be remembered for his humility, deep faith, and lasting contributions to national development and social upliftment.
