Governor Yusuf Enrolls 300,000 Vulnerable Kano Residents in Free Health Insurance Scheme

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has launched the Abba Care Initiative, enrolling over 300,000 individuals in a free health insurance scheme.

The move to enhance healthcare access for Kano’s most vulnerable populations.

The Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the beneficiaries include pregnant women, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, inmates in correctional facilities, and individuals living with sickle cell anemia.

The initiative would be fully funded and managed by the Kano State Contributory Health Management Agency (KCHMA), and is designed to ensure marginalized groups can access quality healthcare services at no cost in designated facilities across the state.

Governor Yusuf described the program as a cornerstone of his administration’s vision for inclusive governance, reaffirming his commitment to the health and welfare of Kano’s underprivileged citizens.

This bold initiative marks a significant step toward achieving universal healthcare coverage and improving the quality of life for the people of Kano.
