Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has been honoured with several prestigious awards from various organizations in recognition of his administration’s transformational achievements.
The awards were presented at the opening of the 30th Executive Council meeting held at the Governor’s Lodge in Kwankwasiyya City.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Among the awards received was the Great Achiever 2025 award, conferred by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources in recognition of Kano’s attainment of Open Defecation Free (ODF) status. It was presented by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo.
The governor also received an award from MIA International School for his significant contributions to the education sector.
In addition, he was named Governor of the Year 2025 in Infrastructure Development at the 15th African Achievers Award, presented by the Special Adviser on State Affairs, Usman Bala Muhammad. Blueprint Newspapers also honoured him with the Governor of the Year 2025 in Education award, which was presented by the governor’s Technical Adviser on Education Reforms, Dr. Haladu Mohammed.
Governor Yusuf further received the Infrastructure Development Commendation Award at the 19th African International Housing Show (AIHS), presented by the Commissioner for Housing and Development, Architect Ibrahim Yakubu Adamu.
Expressing his gratitude, Governor Yusuf thanked the awarding bodies for acknowledging the efforts of his administration.
He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to delivering quality services, promoting good governance, and accelerating socio-economic development across the state.
